Nothing quite like big numbers on pictures to make a statement…and to make me feel even more guilty about yesterday’s burger :-(

now how much energy is lost taking photos of an open refrigerator? just kidding! love the stark visuals and facts. this could easily be an ongoing series!

Love the simplification of such a complex issue. John Hockenberry says,“the job of designers is to make the hidden visible, the visible relevant, and the relevant of passionate concern” and I couldn’t agree more.
Nicely done Izzie!

Energy is a daunting subject. As I began to explore this project I realized though I am constantly consuming energy, I didn’t know how to quantify it, let alone how to visualize it. There are so many different forms of energy, all with different units of measurement, so the task of visualizing energy can quickly become overwhelming. In order to confront this challenge, I chose the most relevant statistics and transformed them into bite-sized pieces, so we can all have a better picture of how much energy we’re using and where it comes from.
